Playtime Paradise

Tropical-themed play area for clients’grandchildren

Greenday Creations in Miami, Florida installed a landscape where the homeowners’ grandchildren could have “the best day ever” enjoying an island-like retreat at their private residence in Redlands, Florida.

Sparing no detail, the landscapers built a natural rock staircase that leads up to the design’s focus – a 15-foot-high tiki hut with waterfalls that mask two caves. From the back of the hut, a spiral, coral rock staircase leads to a handmade waterslide that flows into a pool below. Greenday Creations also added an 8-foot-deep whirlpool adjacent to the pool – a perfect spot for relaxing and watching the grandchildren play.

Since the customers did not want to wait for their paradise to grow, the landscapers installed large-scale plants, using coconut, Veitchia montgomeryana and Phoenix roebelenii palms. They continued the tropical theme with colorful bromeliads, bougainvillea, “Gold Mound” Duranta and green island ficus in coral rock planters. Adjacent to the house, the crew built a flowing cascade adorned with flowering foliage, boulders and driftwood.
