Large-Track Trencher Rolling Out Of Perry

Updated Oct 1, 2010

PERRY, Oklahoma – The Charles Machine Works, Inc. (CMW) has introduced its largest trencher to date: the Ditch Witch® HT220.

Built to provide exceptional digging in both rock and dirt, the HT220 is a hydrostatic trencher with 220 horsepower (164 kW). Designed for large installations”12 to 24 inches (305 – 610 mm) wide and 4 to 8 feet (1.2 – 2.4 m) deep- the machine has an exclusive flywheel gearbox that delivers tremendous horsepower to the attachment on demand while protecting the hydraulic system and other components from shock. Operator vibration is further minimized by trencher stabilizers, standard on each machine, that isolate vibration when digging in rock.

Although the HT220 is not the compact machine typically produced at the Ditch Witch equipment factory in Perry, Oklahoma, CMW product manager Brent Bolay says this machine typifies everything customers have come to expect from the Ditch Witch organization: quality, productivity, and extreme durability.

“Working in harsh conditions demands equipment that is extraordinarily durable and sturdy, and the HT220 does not disappoint,” says Bolay. “From its rugged undercarriages to its reliable controls to its forged, heat-treated, high-alloy steel headshafts, everything on this machine is designed to endure the particularly rugged conditions of rock-laden jobsites.”

“When you’re moving this much soil, you need to get it out of your way so you can install your product. This machine is designed with an integrated, reversible spoils conveyor which effectively deposits soils on either side of the trench,” says Bolay. “This machine also has a patented bit block digging system which lets you easily change out one or all of your bits in the field without removing the digging chain.”

The Ditch Witch organization specializes in the design and manufacture of high-quality underground construction equipment. The company is a one-stop source for trenchers, vibratory plows, pneumatic piercing tools, backhoes, electronic tracking and locating tools, horizontal directional drilling systems, drill pipe, downhole tools, vacuum excavation systems, excavator-tool carriers, and mini skid steers.

All of these products are recognized around the world for their advanced design, rugged construction, long-term durability, ease of use, and reliability. This product line represents the most complete range of equipment for installing utilities underground.

The Ditch Witch name is one you can trust for your equipment and financial needs. Ditch Witch Financial Services (DWFS) is a full-service provider, offering a wide variety of finance and lease options to meet your individual requirements.
