TEREX® DEMAG PRESENTS THE NEW AC 100/4 ALL-TERRAIN CRANE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE UNITED STATES AT CONEXPO

Las Vegas (March 11, 2008) The German-built Terex® Demag AC 100/4 was specifically adapted to meet the requirements of American customers. Firstly, with a dolly, the crane is road homologatable in almost all of the United States as the distance between the second and third axles is 8 ft.  Secondly, road homologation is also possible with 16 tires. The compact steel design is another significant advantage: The weight 100 metric tons is distributed on 4 axles.

The Terex® Demag AC 100/4 reaches a maximum load moment at 308mt, with ultimate lifting capacity at 100 tonnes. The crane™s system length stretches to 77 meters via a 50-meter telescopic boom plus a 27-meter main boom extension.

The newly designed 5-section telescopic boom has strikingly persuasive lifting capacities. At a medium length of 33.3 m with maximum counterweight the crane hoists 24.6 tonnes within a 10-meter radius, and still manages 6.1 tonnes at 30 meters. When really heavy loads have to be taken to great heights, for instance during the assembly of rotating tower cranes, the AC 100/4 performs impressively. At a 10-meter radius the crane has a lifting capacity of 12 tonnes, while at a 30-meter radius it™s 5.3 tonnes, with the boom fully extended and 26.1t counterweight.

In transport mode with 12 tonnes axle load, 5.4-tonne counterweight, 19-meter main boom extension and 16.00R25 tires, the machine delivers phenomenal performance. At 10 meters” working radius with 50-meter main boom it manager a remarkable 12 tonnes- and as a result, the Terex® Demag AC 100/4 puts itself at a clear advantage over its direct rivals.

Four Stabilizer Settings. Flexibility Standard
The variable stabilizer system allows each beam leg to be set in any one of four different positions providing immense adaptability to cope with even the most uncompromising of environments.

Carrier Power Train Design
The carrier packs a powerful punch. A water-cooled DaimlerChrysler engine provides 335KW/445 HP. With its 7 KW/t, it boasts one of the highest power-to-weight ratios of all known 4-axle mobile cranes. The revolutionary power train design substantially increases vehicle mobility. On the highway, through shorter starting and drive-away times, and off-road good off-road capability is insured through the front axle (which can be activated when needed) and rear axle lines being drive axles.

Superstructure Power Train Design
The independent upper carriage power train with 129 KW / 175 HP provides a good balance between high performance for rapid and/or for simultaneous operational movements with a low fuel consumption. Thanks to high torque there™s no need to work with the engine in fuel-guzzling full-load mode. The power train design comes from the next-size-up 5-axle series Terex® Demag AC 100 through AC 160-2, ensuring performance.

Fastest Main Boom
The Terex® Demag AC 100/4 works with a 50m long main boom with only four inner sections. The result: fastest times for telescoping out to the full boom length. The muscle power generated here by the carrier engine is also striking. Customary six-sectioned 50m or 52m main booms are thus clearly outmatched.

The Ultra-Versatile Main Boom Extension
What™s revolutionary can be found in the jib. The Terex® Demag AC 100/4 is fitted with the most versatile main boom extension (MBE) in its class. The 19-meter MBE can be offset both at the main boom and at the 8-meter extension. Hydraulic offsetting is also available as an optional. Also unrivalled is the ability to offset the 8-meter extension to permit either large radii or the overcoming of awkward protruding edges.
