Subaru’s High-Pressure Pump Offers Overhead-Cam Engine, High Efficiency

LAKE ZURICH, Ill. – Subaru’s high-pressure pump combines a powerful overhead-cam engine with high-pressure capabilities and heavy-duty construction to deliver the performance needed for a variety of applications.

Powered by a 6.0-horsepower Subaru EX17 engine, the two-inch PKX201H offers a lift height of up to 275 feet and a maximum delivery volume of 127 gallons per minute. The pump employs a large diameter impeller with shallow veins to attain the high pressure needed for applications such as lawn and garden sprinkler systems, water transfer to high places and secondary firefighting support.

The high-pressure pump utilizes heavy-duty, high quality materials to offer the durability needed for demanding applications. A hardened cast-iron volute effectively withstands suspended particles and small solids sucked through the strainer, while an abrasion-resistant, cast-iron three-blade impeller and a replaceable wear plate ensure long life and low maintenance. After adding water to the pump casing, the high-pressure pump is self-priming, and the advanced volute design drives water straight into the cavity for fast priming. A durable and self-lubricating ceramic carbon mechanical seal provides many hours of trouble-free service.

A rugged, long-lasting strainer is standard and protects pump components from large solids, while the hole diameter helps prevent large debris from entering the suction hose. A strong aluminum die-cast housing withstands the debris allowed. For durability and protection, a heavy-duty steel roll cage wraps around the entire pump. Other standard features include a toolkit, hose band and three-year warranty. Vibration isolators also come standard and lessen vibration to keep the pump stable.

The high-pressure pump offers a low-tone muffler and a sound-suppressing air cleaner for quiet operation and meet EPA/CARB emission standards through 2007. The pump also features a U.S. Forest Service-approved spark arrestor.

The automatic decompression, easy-pull recoil starter and Hot SparkÒ ignition system provide easy and reliable starting. The large-capacity fuel tank extends operation time, while its special coating helps prevent rust from forming inside the tank. A large fuel opening allows easy pouring and the cleanable mesh intake strainer helps prevent debris from reaching the engine. Four extra-large anti-vibration mounts ensure a smooth-running engine and keep the unit from shifting during operation.

Routine maintenance can be completed in the field with common hand tools. Four stainless steel cap screws hold together the aluminum casings, and all wear parts are exposed when the cover is removed, making maintenance convenient. The large plastic plugs make draining and filling easier and eliminate corrosion between the plugs and casing. Additionally, suction and discharge nipples have standard NPT fittings for quick, easy hose connections.
