Allmand Introduces Reconfigured Maxi-Lite® Series with 15- and 20-Kilowatt Generators

HOLDREGE, Neb. — Allmand introduces reconfigured portable light towers featuring diesel-powered 15- and 20-kilowatt AVR generators available in both one-phase and three-phase configurations. The Maxi-Lite® 15 and Maxi-Lite® 20 each come in the standard model, as well as in an Arctic Special Package and CSA-Approved Package.

The Maxi-Lite Arctic Special Package features components to tailor the model to cold-weather environments. A heavy-duty enclosure with a full floor, along with a 90-degree-angle air inlet duct prevent blowing snow from entering the cabinet. Additional standard features include an engine block heater, heavy-duty battery with electric battery blanket, remote oil drain, interior compartment light and tubes in the tires.

Allmand’s Maxi-Lite CSA-Approved Package meets all Canadian Standards Association requirements and features a UL-approved luminaire. It also has a VIN package — an option on other Maxi-Lite models — that includes a tag and side-marker lamps. Both this and the Arctic Special also come standard with a CSA-approved wiring harness.

Each Maxi-Lite tower features Allmand’s exclusive SHO parallel lamp fixtures, which generate up to 50 percent more lumens per fixture than competitive light towers. Providing as many as 7,500 watts per unit, the Maxi-Lite series comes with four or six metal halide or high-pressure sodium fixtures. An optional Saf-T-Visor™ attachment set reflects previously wasted light directly onto the worksite.

Powered by a 34.1-horsepower Isuzu liquid-cooled diesel engine with an electric start, the Maxi-Lite models feature a glow plug cold-starting system that brings the intake air up to the temperature necessary to initiate combustion. Low-oil-pressure and high-temperature automatic shutoff protects the engine from damage. In addition, a removable 50-gallon polyethylene fuel tank allows up to 65 hours of continuous operation, while a convenient 4-inch oversized filler neck provides for easy fueling.

Each of the six units delivers enough energy for temporary work trailers, pumps or additional lighting. They also are capable of powering a variety of auxiliary equipment. The light towers’ electrical systems feature a “componentized” ballast assembly that is easily accessible for service. Each unit also includes a main disconnect breaker, grounding rod and convenient twist-lock outlets.

Each Maxi-Lite tower can be rotated 360 degrees to meet the needs of virtually any lighting application. The heavy-duty 30-foot towers use three telescoping sections and are constructed of galvanized steel, which provides superior corrosion protection. If a galvanized surface is scratched, the coating will expand to protect the damaged area. Durable 10-gauge side panels and a 12-gauge hood enhance the models’ strength.

A four-point outrigger system with center-mounted tower assembly delivers stable operation in wind gusts up to 65 mph. Furthermore, the models’ tower support and outriggers feature a captive latch, eliminating the potential for lost pins. An optional, bi-directional automatic cable reel distributes and retracts electrical cable when the tower is raised and lowered, preventing tangling or breaking.

All Maxi-Lite towers come with 15-inch tires, forklift pockets, a lifting eye, tie-down rings and a two-inch ball/three-inch pintle adjustable-height hitch for easy moving. Additionally, each Allmand lamp features a “flex” mount designed to allow the fixtures to be transported while installed, and to reduce damage that may occur during travel or lamp removal/replacement. Optional inside lamp storage provides better security of the fixtures when the lighting system is not in use. Other options include a hydraulic mast, electric winch tower, sound attenuation package and Allmand’s exclusive LSC100 automatic light sequence commander.
