LSU landscaping school ranks No. 1 in nation

New Orleans CityBusiness

The Louisiana State University School of Landscape Architecture has the No. 1 undergraduate degree program in the nation, according to a 2007 survey by DesignIntelligence, a design professions journal. The same study also ranked LSU’s graduate program fifth in the country.
DesignIntelligence began ranking accredited programs in architecture, landscape architecture and interior design several years ago in an effort to fill in the gaps in the U.S. News & World Report’s nationally recognized university rankings, which do not include landscape architecture programs.

Rankings are based on statistical information, professional surveys and academic surveys filled out by practitioners at landscape architecture firms across the country asking them to identify the schools that produced the best-prepared graduates during the past five years.

LSU’s School of Landscape Architecture undergraduate program moves up to first place from third in 2005. The graduate program is No. 5 for the second year in a row.

The school has been among the top 10 since the survey began.
