Employees of Arizona-based The Groundskeeper have purchased the last 20 percent of shares from founder Jack Hasbrouk to complete the buyout, making The Groundskeeper the nation’s largest employee-owned landscape company.
CEO Anil Hiremath says the transaction will help improve the company’s focus on customer service and quality because it provides more of an incentive to exceed expectations of clients. “This will allow us to reward and build value for our employee-owners who are dedicated to continuing The Groundskeeper’s leadership in the industry,” Hiremath says.
With more than 700 employees in its six offices, The Groundskeeper was founded in 1976 and has been a partially employee-owned operation since 1993. Its headquarters is in Tucson, with branches in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Albuquerque.
