Aquascape announces “World’s Most Extreme Pond Build”

Aquascape will hold the “World’s Most Extreme Pond Build” at its headquarters in St. Charles, Illinois, July 14-18. An invitation-only event, a group of Certified Aquascape Contractors, Water Garden Excellence members and authorized AquascapePRO distributors will be asked to participate in this one-time experience.

Participants will construct a 250-foot by 90-foot water feature at the entrance of Aqualand, Aquascape’s corporate offices, learning traditional and non-traditional methods of using Aquascape products.

The vision for the feature is a replica of the Illinois watershed including waterfalls up to 10 feet in height, a grotto to view the falls from behind, rainwater storage areas, a cypress swamp representative of southern Illinois, walking paths and a patio. Permeable paving methods will capture stormwater runoff, and over 1,000 tons of stone will be used to create the water feature – some rocks weighing 80,000 pounds.

In addition to the water feature construction, participants will attend classroom seminars, networking events, pond and garden tours and social events like the Pond Olympics.

This summer’s “World’s Most Extreme Pond Build” will replace Aquascape’s annual Pondemonium event. Pondemonium will return in the summer of 2009 for a 10th anniversary celebration.
