With a 2,800-pound operating capacity and an 84-horsepower engine, JCB’s 280 Skid Steer Loader is a large-platform machine that can handle big landscaping projects. At this time of year, though, as the growing season winds down, JCB is busy reminding its landscaping customers the 280 is also ready for anything Old Man Winter may throw at your clients.

In addition to its power, the company says, the 280 Skid Steer Loader’s “Powerboom” design improves visibility by 60 percent and makes it easier and safer to enter and exit the machine – especially important during snow removal.

JCB skid steers are compatible with 30 attachment families, including snow buckets and snow pushers. Switching attachments is made simple by a standard universal mechanical hitch or an optional hydraulic quick hitch.

Three cab configurations are available: open canopy, cab with heat and cab with heat and factory-installed air conditioning. A rear service door offers access to the engine and daily checkpoints, a top-opening hood for radiator access and a hinged radiator for improved engine access.

Overhead control panels are placed in the operator’s line of sight, according to the manufacturer, which says the machine’s controls are intuitive and easy to use. Full servo control is provided for either standard (three-way) joysticks or multifunctional (seven-way) joysticks.
