Hardscape North America offers pre-show courses

HNA_LogoHardscape North America (HNA) is offering hardscape contractors and installers an opportunity to learn ways to improve installation efficiency while earning ICPI certification credits. Pre-show installation courses are scheduled for Oct. 20-21 at the Embassy Suites in Louisville, Kentucky.

The ICPI courses conclude with an exam. Participants who pass will receive a Record of Completion. The courses are being offered in conjunction with the HNA trade show, which is set for October 21-23 at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

Participants can choose from the following pre-show installation course offerings:

  • ICPI Concrete Paver Installer Course and Certification Exam

Two-day course, Oct. 20-21, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Who: Contractors with a year or more of experience installing concrete pavers.

Content: Job planning and layout, soil characteristics, compaction, base materials, edge restraints, bedding and joint sands, installation and maintenance of concrete pavers, estimating and more.

  • ICPI Advanced Residential Paver Technician Course

Two-day course, Oct. 20-21, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Who: Residential contractors and other interested participants. Previous attendance at the ICPI Concrete Paver Installer Course is recommended.

Content: Advanced paver installation techniques, overlays, multi-leveled and raised patios, outdoor fireplaces and kitchen installations, pool deck construction and advanced business practices.

Continuing education credits: 13

  • ICPI Commercial Paver Technician Course

Two-day course, Oct. 21-22, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Who: Contractors and other interested participants who have attended the ICPI Concrete Paver Installer Course and are interested in concrete paver system construction for commercial applications.

Content: Stabilized bases, bedding sand hardness, durability, overlays and inlays, rigid applications, roof plaza decks, concrete grid pavements, mechanical installation, MasterFormat specifications, liens, construction details, plan reading, submittals, estimating software, on-screen takeoffs and more.

Continuing education credits: 13

  • ICPI Permeable Interlocking Concrete Pavement Specialist Course

One-day course, Oct. 21, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Who: Experienced contractors and those interested in learning about the best practices for the construction of permeable interlocking concrete pavement systems. Previous attendance at the Concrete Paver Installer course is recommended.

Content: Job planning and layout, estimating, soil and site characteristics, sub-base and base materials, edge restraints, bedding and jointing materials, paver selection, installation and maintenance.

Continuing education credits: 7

  • NCMA SRW Installer Course and Exam

One-day course, Oct. 20, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Learn how to build segmental retaining walls (SRW) that perform well over time. This program teaches hardscape contractors and installers essential concepts related to the design, construction and performance of SRWs, providing the knowledge needed to install quality walls that meet customer expectations. Learn about SRW installation guidelines, materials, soils, compaction and water, planning, estimating, safety and equipment selection.

Continuing education credits: 6

  • NCMA Advanced Residential SRW Installer Course and Exam

One-day course, Oct. 21, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

This program increases your value to customers by teaching advanced SRW applications and installation techniques, and it is open to NCMA-Certified SRW Installers (CSRWI) who are engaged in the advanced construction of SRWs. The program is focused on advanced residential applications and small commercial jobs where stairs, corners, pillars, etc., are incorporated.

Continuing education credits: 6

  • NCMA Advanced Commercial SRW Installer Course and Exam

One-day course, Oct. 21, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

This program teaches advanced SRW applications and installation techniques and is open to NCMA-Certified SRW Installers (CSRWI) who are engaged in the advanced commercial construction of SRWs. The program is focused on advanced commercial and transportation applications.

Continuing education credits: 6
