The person who came up with the phrase “jack-of-all-trades and master of none” was never introduced to Honda Power Equipment’s new VersAttach Multi-Purpose System.

One of the company’s major themes at GIE+EXPO last week, the new product gives landscapers the option of changing between a line trimmer, edger, blower, hedge trimmer, pruner and cultivator.

The six attachments are simple to interchange with Honda’s joint locking system, which it calls SureLoc. To change out a tool, the operator only has to click and twist. Honda is pushing it hard to professional landscapers but also expects the system to be popular among retail consumers.

“Our new VersAttach System, with its focus on user comfort and convenience, extends the Honda Power Equipment product portfolio to meet a broader ranger of consumer needs in the lawn and garden market,” said Scott Conner, senior vice president of Honda Power Equipment.

The VersAttach System comes in two power-head options. The UMC425 runs on a Honda GX25 Mini 4-stroke engine while the UMC435 is powered by a GX35 Mini 4-stroke engine. The engines are designed to handle 360-degree operation.

According to Honda, users aren’t required to use the tools at full throttle constantly, as they’re capable of performing at a range of speeds.

The VersAttach also uses rubber-mount shaft inserts between the shaft and clutch and handle to lessen vibration and operator fatigue.
