Having brought the automotive technology of overhead cam to the small-engine market, Subaru Industrial Power Products is now offering a line of hydrostatic and mechanical axles.
The new line includes nine models and Subaru says all of them feature heavy-duty construction, forged gears, brass synchronizers and built-in parking brakes or wheel brakes.
While the axles fit a variety of turf equipment, the manufacturer says the first axles were sold to manufacturers of utility task vehicles (UTVs), motorcycles and golf carts.
Subaru says several of the models include bevel pinion gear type differentials, and two of the axles are designed for use with electric drive systems.
The company notes that original equipment manufacturers can incorporate the axles with Subaru’s line of gas-powered engines for a complete powertrain.
A Subaru spokesman said the company expects to continue diversifying into other gasoline-engine driven applications in the outdoor power, concrete and light construction industries.
