Most teenagers spend their summers relaxing and taking a break from schoolwork, but 14-year-old Daron Taylor spends his time practicing lawn care.

Taylor lives in Cleveland, Ohio, and recently received viral attention when a fellow Clevelander, Deon Johnson, noticed something peculiar about Taylor’s trailer.

Taylor’s version of a trailer is a wood construction that he built himself and designed to attach to his bike.

“When I used to live on Superior Avenue,” said the young man, “I used to see other people cutting grass. It inspired me to cut grass. So, I went ahead and my Daddy bought me a lawn mower and I started cutting grass.”

When Taylor decided that he wanted to cut yards farther away, he saved up money to buy a bike and then made the trailer.

“I just cut a couple pieces of wood and mounted it to my bike, all by myself,” he said.

Taylor works along with his 12-year-old brother, TiShawn Holmes, who finds the work fun because he can spend more time with his sibling.

When Johnson spotted Taylor and his trailer, he stopped and made a video that has already gotten nearly 74,000 views on Instagram alone.

“He reminded me of myself when I was a kid, doing what you had to do, cutting grass, washing cars,” Johnson said.

Taylor’s parents are proud of their son’s initiative and try to help where they can.

“This was something he created on his own,” said Cheryl Dukes, Taylor’s mother. “All he asked for was equipment and we supplied it.”

They have filed to make D’s Lawn Care a limited liability corporation (LLC) and set up a GoFundMe page to help with business expenses. The goal is $25,000 and Taylor has received $22,911 in donations so far.

He says his goal is to have the largest lawn care service ever.
