Product roundup: KOHLER engine, Michelin Tweel tire, Arrow sweeper broom

BlueBird Turf Products has chosen KOHLER to power its new products and exhibited these models at The Rental Show in Orlando this week.

It upgraded its landscape edger, stump grinder and commercial-grade chipper to expand its versatility and ease of use for rental customers looking to finish landscaping products.

“When you walk into many rental yards, it’s common to see rows of familiar BlueBird equipment all lined up and ready for duty,” said Rick Wendt, senior national account manager for KOHLER Engines. “Without question, rental customers trust the brand, so BlueBird is careful to select engines from proven manufacturers that will deliver the power and performance that’s needed.”

KOHLER’s Command PRO single-cylinder engine features Quad-Clean, a four-stage cyclonic air cleaner, which helps protect the engines from airborne contaminants.

“These contaminants can compromise an engine’s overall integrity and increase an end user’s cost to operate the equipment due to decreased fuel economy,” said Kyle Riste, channel manager – rental and construction for KOHLER Engines. “That’s why we’ve made Quad-Clean a standard option and, best of all, we did so without adding extra cost to the purchase price.

Michelin adds Hard Surface Traction version of Tweel tire

The Hard Surface Traction (HST) is Michelin Tweel Technologies latest version of the X TWEEL SSL Airless Radial Tire.

Designed to meet the needs of skid steer operators who work on abrasive surfaces such as asphalt, the TWEEL SSL HST offers a hard-surface solution without sacrificing off-the-pavement traction. The X TWEEL SSL series boasts of no maintenance and no downtime thanks to the elimination of flat tires.

Michelin also says its airless tire has the advantage of reducing operator fatigue, improved productivity, and longer wear life compared to pneumatic tires.

“The development of this product was in direct response to customer demand,” said Justin Brock, Michelin Agriculture’s compact line business manager in North America. “Our customers are looking for a long-wearing, hard-surface solution that also provides traction in off-the-pavement applications when needed.”

Arrow Material Handling offers new sweeper broom

The Arrow Sweeper Broom attachment is designed for skid steers, loaders and telehandlers to remove debris from streets, parking lots and more.

It has a low-profile design to increase visibility while poly bristles sweep and scrub the ground. A gear driven motor housed in steel is located outside of the broom, removing the need for the chain. The cutting edge is replaceable and the aluminum shaft doesn’t rust.

“Our customers’ primary concern investing in broom attachments is product downtime – nobody can afford time consuming and costly repairs and maintenance. So when engineering a sweeper broom we knew had to solve the sustainability issue while still providing an effective and affordable solution,” said Terry Melvin, CEO of Arrow Material Handling.

The attachment has a sweep width of 72 inches and includes a one-year limited warranty.
