Insights: A labor of love

What a labor of love it has been launching Total Landscape Care magazine. From an idea several years ago, to the inaugural issue you hold in your hand, a staff has been formed, research conducted, and a whirlwind tour taken this summer to try to meet as many movers and shakers in the landscape industry as was humanly possible. We still have a lot to do, but we take pride in presenting what we fully expect will quickly become an important contribution to this industry.

The challenges of a start-up publication are many and we quickly realized that we could not do it without help. Our editor, Jack Roberts, has more than 10 years experience in trade publishing, and is a recent winner of a Jesse H. Neal Award for journalistic excellence. He has assembled a staff made of experts in specific subjects important to you and charged them with presenting timely, useful information in an easy-to-obtain format each month.

As you read through this magazine, you will notice advertising by several familiar equipment manufacturers. We have been fortunate to have developed long-standing relationships with many of these manufacturers through our sister publication, Equipment World, which is arguably the top magazine serving the heavy construction industry today. Its friends and loyal partners immediately stepped forward to support Total Landscape Care when we announced our intention to publish this magazine, anticipating the same success and efficiency in reaching the landscape market they have grown to expect from Equipment World in construction. Their support, and yours, will further motivate us in creating the very best magazine possible for professional landscapers.

One thing that you should quickly notice is that Total Landscape Care will be different than the other magazines serving this market. Our parent company, Randall-Reilly Publishing, prides itself on the close relationships we all work to develop with our readers and advertisers of our products. We will work hard to gain your trust by becoming engrained as deeply as possible in the industry and consistently delivering the best editorial product possible each month.

Most of all, you’ll see a magazine dedicated to you – the reader. In the coming issues of TLC, you’ll begin to see information pertaining to very special promotions that we have planned for you. Our Landscaper of the Year program will be an industry-wide search for the brightest and most successful in the industry. The Landscaper’s Dream Package will be just that -a fantasy sweepstakes come true for landscapers with a grand prize consisting of $100,000 worth of equipment vital to any landscaping business being awarded to one lucky landscaper.

The mission of Total Landscape Care magazine is to become the prime source of information for professional landscapers to help make you more efficient, more productive, more profitable and successful overall. Welcome aboard, we trust that you will enjoy the experience.
