These California homeowners wanted a yard they could enjoy entertaining friends and family. To do that, a complete front- and back-yard makeover was in order. All existing plants and hardscaping were removed, allowing Natural Touch Landscaping to start from scratch. All new plant materials were installed. A pondless waterfall in the back yard and a formal fountain in the front yard now serve as design focal points for parties or simple end-of-the-day relaxation.

The stucco’s gotta go
Private residence, Sea Girt, New Jersey
Landscaping designed and installed by Cipriano Landscape Design, Ramsey, New Jersey
Seeking an updated, vibrant look, this architectural landscape design group removed 1,000 square feet of decaying stucco finish on the client’s outdated retaining wall and replaced it with a 6-inch mosaic granite veneer with raked joints. Cipriano Landscape Design then added piers to the wall for support and to create shadows and depth. A 3-inch bluestone cap tops off the wall. Low-voltage accent lights were built into the steps to reduce shadows created by the pier lights, and stone piers were added to the back yard entry gates to carry the theme throughout the design. Since this is a Jersey Shore summer home with limited space, the client elected to forgo some of the winter interest plants to focus on gardens of summer flowering shrubs layered with perennials and annuals.
