JLG Introduces Super Compact Telehandler

The Rental Show 2008  – JLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Truck Corporation company [NYSE: OSK] and a leading manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telescopic material handlers will show the JLG®  Model G5-18A super compact telehandler with a 1.0 cubic yard bucket in Booth 6119 at The Rental Show in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 12 -14, 2008.

The G5-18A compact telehandler combines operator comfort and machine maneuverability with lift capacity and reach to create a versatile and powerful compact telehandler.  The G5-18A boasts a 5,500-pound maximum lifting capacity and 1,850-pound capacity at the fully extended reach of almost 11 feet; the best capacity in the compact telehandler class.  The machine comes standard with three operator-selectable steering modes including 4-wheel circle, 4-wheel crab and 2-wheel steering. The 126-inch turning radius makes it a top choice for confined or congested work areas.

Brian Boeckman, JLG™s product parent for North American telehandlers, said, We spent a great deal of time talking with construction professionals to ensure the G5-18A compact telehandler was designed for top-of-the-line operator comfort and improved visibility.  We paid close attention to details such as machine specifications and dimensions to make it suitable for confined workspaces and multi-story applications. We also paid close attention to service needs by making the engine area easily accessible.

The G5-18A™s 18-foot maximum boom height and almost 11 feet of reach allows the operator to access hard to reach areas. The compact dimensions of the machine, 144.2-inches long by 71.5-inches wide by 75.6-inches high, make it a great choice in difficult to maneuver work sites such as parking garages and multistory construction.  At a gross vehicle weight of under 11,000 pounds, the G5-18A can be lifted by a crane at most job sites for use on higher-level floors.

The G5-18A is offered with several available attachments including a general purpose bucket, a light material bucket, a grapple bucket, various carriages, and a lifting hook, making it an ideal machine for jobs that previously required several different types of equipment.  The G5-18A can even be configured to accommodate skid steer attachments.
