New Side Discharge Bucket Offers Versatility, Ease of Use, in Range of Applications

Updated Sep 28, 2010

Delhi, IA – To help construction professionals increase onsite efficiency in these challenging times, Paladin Brands™ Light Construction Group has announced the introduction of its Side Discharge Bucket for use with skid steer loaders.  Designed by the FFC Division of Paladin, the bucket is offered in two configurations (and two sizes in each configuration) for use with either heavier materials like sand and aggregate, or lighter ones such as sawdust and mulch.

The bucket is designed for use with most commercially-available skid steers and offers a host of features to maximize ease of use and onsite versatility.  These include right- or left-side discharge – selection is made by simply reversing the direction of the hydraulic flow from within the cab; ability to vary the distance material is thrown – again by varying the speed of the onboard hydraulics; and a removable belt cover to keep material weight off the belt and reduce the risk of stalling.

“We really feel this tool will fit a wide range of needs,” says Doug Sanderson, FFC’s Chief Engineer.  “We see the Sand Discharge Bucket being ideal for use by general contractors and landscapers in moving and placing sand and aggregates such as pea gravel and crushed rock.   The Sawdust Discharge Bucket, on the other hand, can also find use by landscapers working with sawdust, mulch and other lighter materials.”

Additional features include a ½-inch grouser on the belt of the Sand Bucket and a 1-inch grouser on the Sawdust Bucket’s belt to enhance material movement to the discharge chute; and a direct hydraulic drive on both models’ conveyors as well as on the Sawdust Bucket’s agitator to prevent material bridging.  Each configuration comes in two widths: the Sand Bucket in 60-inch and 72-inch widths and the Sawdust Bucket in widths of 72- and 84-inches.

“We have even addressed the issue of wear on the front edge of the bucket caused by repeated loadings from piles,” says Sanderson.  “We now have a bolt-on wear edge that can simply be removed and replaced.  We are excited about the possibilities these units offer, and will probably be seeing uses even we didn’t imagine.”
