Ditch Witch RT40: Best In Class

Updated Oct 1, 2010

The RT40 is designed for quick and efficient installation of water, sewer, gas, and power lines. Its powerful, oil-cooled engine is rated at 42.2 gross horsepower (31.5 kW) and features a large, isolator-mounted, horizontal muffler with a vertical stack. This design, with a fiberglass hood, minimizes the machine’s noise and increases operator comfort.

The RT40 is especially easy to operate. Speed/direction and attachment controls are grouped together for easy access, and the backfill blade is controlled by a highly responsive joystick. Its new, friction-controlled throttle requires little effort to move the throttle lever, and the backhoe features a new throttle cable design. Plus, its high-efficiency engine goes 500 operational hours between oil changes, double the old standard of 250.

Powerful enough for the big jobs but compact enough to work on small jobsites, the RT40 was built with rental yard owners, electricians, plumbers, and utility contractors in mind.
