Kobelco Construction Machinery America Introduces New 215SR and 235SR ACERA Excavators

CAROL STREAM, Ill., Mar. 12, 2008 – Ever since introducing the world”s first short-radius excavators in 1998, Kobelco Construction Machinery America has been intent on continuing their history of innovation in design and performance. Today, Kobelco Construction Machinery America announces the addition of two more models, the new 215SR and 235SR ACERA excavators, making the Kobelco line the most extensive in the industry.

The 215SR and 235SR are designed to offer higher performance with lower noise and exhaust emissions, making them perfect for urban settings and tight areas. The excavators feature the Kobelco Integrated Noise Dust Reduction system (INDR), a state-of-the-art technology that delivers superior air filtration and a top-of-the-line engine and hydraulic cooling system. This also allows the INDR system to lower noise levels by up to 5 dBA by quieting both intake and exhaust air.

Both machines employ proven, Tier III-certified engines for powerful performance, with 6 percent higher fuel efficiency than previous models for lowered total cost of operation. Quiet, tandem, in-line hydraulic pumps, combined with the Kobelco Intelligent Total Control System (ITCS), provide excellent breakout force with smooth hydraulic controls and the precision necessary for fine grading and leveling. The power-mode selection feature allows the operator to choose from four different modes, depending on the job: the H Mode allows heavy digging and high productivity while the S Mode delivers standard digging and increased fuel savings. The other two work modes include the B Mode, which powers one-way flow attachments (e.g., breakers), and the A Mode for attachments that require two-way flow.

“We understand the challenges that arise when working in restrictive or tight job sites,” said Paul Golevicz, brand marketing manager at Kobelco America. “We believe that the ability to work in close quarters, especially where noise and air quality are concerns, shouldn”t hinder the power and performance of the machine.”

In addition to the combination of power and practicality, both models provide operators with the very best in cab comfort. The operator-oriented cab design provides maximum space and visibility, easy-to-read instrument panels and climate-control features to increase operator productivity.

While both use the same engine, the 235SR ACERA provides more breakout force than the 215SR and features a heavy-duty boom, arm and undercarriage as standard. A high and wide undercarriage is also an available option for special construction, demolition and forestry applications.

Both models are manufactured at the company”s facility in Calhoun, Ga. For more information about the full line of Kobelco short-radius excavators and other equipment from Kobelco America, please visit www.kobelcoamerica.com.
