TEREX SHOWCASING WIDE ARRAY OF NEW CRANES AT CONEXPO

Las Vegas (March 11, 2008) Terex Cranes presents product premieres and customer focused developments including telescopic cranes, crawler cranes, tower cranes and rough-terrain cranes. The displayed models demonstrate the innovative power of the Terex Cranes group. Four mobile cranes and one tower crane will be shown.

All-Terrain Cranes
Terex introduces the Demag AC 100/4 for the first time to the U.S. market. It currently is the strongest 100 tonne four-axle crane (at maximum counterweight). The maximum load moment of this mobile crane is 308 meter tonnes, its system length is 77 m, with a 50 m telescopic boom plus 27 m of main boom extension. With a dolly, the crane is road homologatable in almost all of the U.S. as distance between axles 2 and 3 is 8ft. Road homologation is also possible with 16 tires. The compact steel design is of significant advantage as 100 metric tons are distributed on 4 axles.

The AC 100/4 has the most variable main boom extension (HAV) in its class. The 19-meter HAV can be offset at the basic boom as well as at the 8 meter extension. The ability to also offset the 8m extension is currently unique. Thus it is possible to either achieve large radii or to lift loads over projecting edges. Four different stabilizer bases come as standard and make for a high degree of flexibility in challenging operating environments. The carrier engine is a liquid-cooled DaimlerChrysler unit, delivering a powerful 335kW / 445 HP @ 2,000 RPM. The separate superstructure engine with an output of 129 kW / 175 HP provides an excellent balance of power for rapid working cycles and low fuel consumption.

Crawler Cranes

The new HC 230 is an innovative machine in the medium lifting capacity range. This new crawler crane offers 230 tonnes of lifting capacity at a reach of 14 ft, when equipped with a 77 SI boom/ Hammerhead tip. At 16ft reach with a 92 HI boom / offset tip the capacity is 230 tonnes as well. The maximum length of the main boom is 290 ft and impressive 390 ft with a boom extension. The crane is equipped with a load-sensing hydraulic system to ensure smooth and precise work. This is a huge advantage when operating at maximum boom length or at maximum lifting capacity.

Driven by a 6-cylinder Cummins-engine with 325 HP @ 2,000 RPM the HC 230 navigates heavy terrain and climbs slopes of up to 30 percent (17°). The operator can adjust traction force and speed to match given operating requirements. Traveling speeds of either .55 or .37 mph may be selected. A fully hydraulic counterweight-system enables quick set-up times. Only nine trucks (standard lowboy trailers) are required to transport the crane with a 260 ft main boom and 128,400 lbs standard-counterweight (38,800 Ib base plus 8 x 11,200 Ib overlays) to and from working sites.

Rough Terrain Cranes

With a lifting capacity of YY US tons the RT 1120 is currently one of the most powerful rough-terrain cranes on the US market. A 5-section, 3-mode boom forms the basis for the boom system The basic hook height is 155 ft. As an option, a 30 to 56 ft bi-fold jib is available, as well as two additional 26 ft jib-inserts, allowing for a hook height of 271 ft. The crane is powered by a strong 300 HP Cummins engine. For ease of crane operation, the counterweight may be set-up fully hydraulically. In addition, the RT 1120 comes with: Electric over hydraulic dual axis joystick controls and disc brakes on all four wheels.

Boom Truck Cranes

The stinger-class BT 4792 with its lifting capacity of 47,000 lbs and total weight of 60,000 lbs is an extremely versatile machine. In addition to standard crane applications it is very simple to mount a working cage for one or two persons and a working platform. This vastly expands the crane operator”s mission options. The maximum height of the main boom head is 101 ft – or 144 ft with main boom extension. Easy and safe crane operation is enhanced through the BT 4792″s exclusive color-coded boom and load charts. This allows the operator to easily determine boom extension, boom angle and load capacity. Equipment also includes: Electronic load moment indicator and anti-two-block device are standard, as well as are dual control stations with a direct mechanically controlled hydraulic system. The 2-speed planetary winch has a 10,500 lb maximum permissible 1 part line, 37,000 lb breaking strength, and 186 ft/min maximum line speed. Its maximum road travel speed is 74 mph.

Tower Cranes

Terex Comedil has just launched a new range of Flat Top tower cranes, the medium CTT series. This series, placed between the popular City and the big series, was created with the production of the CTT 231 (10 and 12 tonnes) and will shortly be expanded by the introduction of new models. The CTT 231 has a wide range of mechanical and jib configuration options allowing assembly with a maximum jib length of 70 m (minimum 30 m) as well as the possibility to use 5 m jib sections. The CTT 231 is a versatile machine, suitable for working on both small and large buildings. It reaches considerable free standing heights – steel cables and winch speeds are a perfect solution to meet today™s construction needs. It”s high performance level guarantees excellent operations. Capacity at the jib point is 2.1 tonnes – maximum capacity is 10 12 tonnes. In addition, the CTT 231 has a very competitive loading chart that decreases significantly less steeply when compared to cranes with similar features. The design of the crane is particularly aimed at the safety of each crane element.
