Charlotte, NC Gary Abernathy, President and Bryan Abernathy, Vice President Sales
& Marketing for Champion Motor Graders of Charlotte, NC, are delighted to announce a very special event at ConExpo 2008 in Las Vegas, on March 12th and 13th (Central, Booth #C-4853). “We have asked a great Champion to come and help us launch our biggest grader yet-a man with a great boxing career in his past, and a charismatic man with a great message of hope for today and tomorrow – George Chuvalo.”
Champion is very proud to have George come to ConExpo ™08. His family values and strength of character are an inspiration to all of us at Champion Motor Graders, a family-operated business for over 25 years. George will be available to the public and press at the Champion Motor Graders booth (Central, Booth #C-4853) at ConExpo ™08, from 10 AM to Noon and from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on March 12th and 13th, said Abernathy.
George Chuvalo was the reigning Canadian Heavyweight Boxing Champion for 21 years, from 1958 until 1979. Ranked in the top 10 of the boxing world for much of his career with 74 wins and 67 by knockout, George faced many of the best fighters of this century: Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Floyd Patterson, Ernie Terrell, Joe Frazier, Jerry Quarry and many others. Ali called him, The toughest man I ever fought.
George retired from boxing in 1979 as the undisputed Heavyweight Champion of Canada. In 1990, he was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame. And in 1997, he was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame located in Riverside, California.
After his boxing career, George acted in a number of movies, including “The Fly”, “Prom Night Three”, “The Untouchables” and more recently, “Dirtyworks.”
Today, it is the Fight Against Drugs. George speaks about drugs, using his expressive nature to convey his powerful message. The feedback he receives has been positive, appreciative and encouraging. With his captivating insight and wisdom, his presentations are in demand from coast-to-coast. He de-glamorizes drug use by giving examples of what he has witnessed first hand having lost three sons and a wife to substance abuse. To date, he has been to over 300 schools, many detention centers and met with numerous parent support groups. More about George™s background and his messages of hope and inspiration can be found on his website: www.fightagainstdrugs.ca.
In October 1998, he proudly received the “Order of Canada”, one of Canada™s highest awards, in recognition of his work and dedication to Canada”s youth.
We are both pleased and very proud that George has agreed to come to ConExpo, said Abernathy, We share many common values and beliefs. On March 12th and 13th, come meet a great Champion with a great heart, and come see big ideas at work in Champion Motor Graders at ConExpo `08. We are also encouraging people to continue the work that George has started and to speak out against drugs.
