Kenworth Unveils New State-of-the-Art T370 Class 7 Model

LOUISVILLE, KY., March 21, 2007 Kenworth Truck Company today enhanced its quality medium duty product lineup with the introduction of the new state-of-the-art Kenworth T370 Class 7 model at the Mid-America Trucking Show.


The Kenworth T370 Class 7 conventional is available as a tractor or a straight truck with single or tandem axles. The T370 is offered with the PACCAR PX-6 engine rated to 325 hp and 750 ft-lb of torque, and the PACCAR PX-8 engine rated to 330 hp and 1,000 ft-lb of torque. The PX-8 engine also has a 360 hp rating for emergency vehicles. Front axle ratings are from 10,000 to 14,600 pounds with rear axles from 17,000 to 40,000 pounds. Customers can choose manual or automatic transmissions and air or hydraulic brakes. The T370 also offers many exhaust options for the various wheelbases, especially important to body builders that work with medium duty customers. The new T370 is scheduled to begin production this summer.

The new T370 further expands Kenworth™s growing presence in the Class 7 market with another reliable, durable and quality product that provides excellent performance and value for a wide range of medium duty applications, said Bob Christensen, Kenworth general manager and PACCAR vice president. Customers will also appreciate the T370™s appealing visual features, including the world-class lighting system.

The Kenworth T370 features new halogen projector low beam headlamps with 30% more light down the road and three times longer life than sealed beam headlamps. An optional High Intensity Discharge headlamp configuration provides even more headlamp light and life. The new hood made of sheet molded composite (SMC) offers enhanced fit and finish, while a new hood assist device and 90-degree hood tilt opening offer superior access to the engine compartment for ease of service. A one-piece chrome or painted bumper and new Metton® quarter fenders provide additional durability and impact resistance.

Inside, the Kenworth T370™s ergonomically-friendly dash with a wrap-around instrument panel has large easy-to-read, glare-free gauges. The fully trimmed cab is quiet with no doghouse, which helps to greatly reduce interior noise. Standard features include power door locks, passenger-side electric windows (optional on the driver™s side), and DayLite® doors with peeper window. Drivers will also appreciate the 50-degree wheel cut for excellent maneuverability. Key options include a telescoping and tilting steering wheel to accommodate even the tallest drivers, workstation with two 12-volt power ports for laptops or printers, optional corner windows to aid in backing up and negotiating tight spots, and electronic shift module.
