Applications for PLANET’s annual Safety Recognition Awards Program are due May 1. The program covers Jan. 1, 2008, through Dec. 31, 2008. Awards are presented in three categories: No Vehicle Accidents, No Injuries or Illnesses and No Days Away From Work. Companies that participated in previous programs are eligible for the Most Improved category.
Participants may also qualify for the Overall Safety Achievement Award. Eligible companies must demonstrate outstanding safety performance in the workplace based on combined fleet and employee incident rates. This award (Gold, Silver and Bronze levels) is kept confidential until the fall of 2009.
To apply for a Safety Recognition Award, companies must submit an application, their OSHA Form 300A Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses, a copy of their year-end vehicle insurance claims summary report from their insurance agent and the Safety Program Checklist, included with the application. Additionally, companies are encouraged to submit the benchmarking form, also part of the application.
