Ball Ecological Restoration Project wins award

Ball Horticultural Company will receive the 2008 Conservation and Native Landscaping Award at a ceremony on November 13. The award is sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency and Chicago Wilderness, an initiative that recognizes park districts, municipalities and corporations that make extensive and creative use of natural landscaping. The award ceremony will be held as part of the Chicago Wilderness Congress.

This is the fourth award for the Ball Ecological Restoration Project. The project began in 2001 and grew into 27 acres of native restoration. Invasive species were replaced with native plants, wildlife habit was restored and walking trails for employees were created. The area is located in West Chicago, Illinois, home to Ball’s headquarters.
