First annual National Public Gardens Day to be held in May

The first annual National Public Gardens Day will be celebrated May 8. Sponsored by the American Public Gardens Association and Rain Bird, National Public Gardens Day was planned to raise awareness of America’s public gardens and the role they have in environmental stewardship, plant and water conservation and education.

National Public Gardens Day will celebrate all types of gardens, from botanical to educational, entertainment to farm, arboreta to historical landscapes and zoos. Several of the nation’s gardens will host special events and activities for the public in honor of the day.
