24th annual San Francisco Flower and Garden Show moves to San Mateo

The 24th annual San Francisco Flower and Garden Show will be March 18-22 at a new location – the San Mateo County Event Center. This is the first time the show will be held in San Mateo. For the last 12 years it took place at the Cow Palace.

Not only is the tradeshow moving locations, it may be ending. Owner Duane Kelly took over the show production in 1997. Unless a new buyer can be found, this will be the last show. He is closing his company, Salmon Bay Events, which also owns and produces the Northwest Flower & Garden Show in Seattle, Washington.

The Northwest and San Francisco Flower & Garden Shows are the second- and third-largest flower shows in the country, respectively. The San Francisco show is known for its stunning garden displays, educational offerings and high-quality gardening products.

This year’s theme is “Sustainable Spaces. Beautiful Places.” Attendees will experience full-size show gardens, free talks and practical workshops led by gardening experts, educational exhibits, an educational and activity arena for families, food and drink, live music and shopping for plants, garden art, tools and specialty items.
