A number of service projects planned for PLANET Day of Service

On Earth Day, April 22, PLANET members and other volunteers will undertake a variety of landscape projects in communities nationwide. The event, PLANET Day of Service, demonstrates the importance of maintaining green spaces. Numerous projects are already in the planning stages – projects to spruce up elementary schools, city parks, zoos, camps and nonprofit organizations to name a few.

Paul Dykstra, president of Iowa City Landscaping, has planned a project to repair damage caused by major flooding in the state last year. His company will work in parks in Iowa City and Coralville to replace dirt and mulch carried away by the rushing water.

The New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association will work to create a habitat for the ruffed grouse at the 80-year-old No-Be-Bo-Sco Boy Scout camp in Hardwick, New Jersey.
