Journey Through Hallowed Ground Corridor Management Plan receives awards

The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership received two awards for its Corridor Management Plan. The plan was developed over 20 months with 60 community-input sessions throughout the Route 15/231 corridor within the Journey Through Hallowed Ground National Heritage Area that runs from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to Monticello in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The American Planning Association Virginia Chapter awarded the JTHG Partnership’s management plan the Outstanding Private Sector Plan Award on March 26 at a conference in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects gave the management plan an award in its Planning and Analysis category. This award was presented April 17 at the VASLA annual meeting at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond, Virginia.

Citizens, developers, elected officials and representatives from the Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania Departments of Transportation contributed to the development of the management plan. Lardner/Klein Landscape Architects gathered information from public sessions and formally prepared the management plan.
