Rain Bird opens nominations for top water conservationist

Rain Bird is accepting nominations for the 2009 Intelligent Use of Water Awards. The 3rd Annual awards ceremony will honor two winners in the Leadership Award and the State of the Union Award categories. The awards will be presented at the WaterSmart Innovations Conference Oct. 7-10 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nominees for the Leadership Award will be considered for using sustainable water-landscaping practices. Winners may be citizens or professionals, acting alone or with an organization, and will receive $10,000 and highlighted in a short film at the awards ceremony.

The State of the Union Award bestows five municipalities and water agencies the award for applying water conserving practices in public landscape works. Recipients will be invited to serve as panelists at Rain Bird’s Intelligent Use of Water Summit XI, which will be held at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., in April 2010.
