Precise Acephate insecticide receives approvals on new label

Agrium Advanced Technologies’ Precise Acephate Greenhouse and Nursery Systemic insecticide has received federal and state approvals of its new label. The EPA and 27 states have registered the insecticide, which is a granular, controlled-release acephate plant-protection treatment.

Agrium’s product encapsulates the active ingredient in a granular form to minimize the smell, make handling safer and easier and deliver consistent performance. By using a polymer coating, the pest control becomes a slow-release product that continues to work for months as a preventative treatment and to control existing insects.

Precise Acephate can be used in container stock in greenhouses, lath houses, shade houses and outdoor production culture. Research conducted on container-grown nursery crops reports the insecticide remained active for more than four months. The insecticide is labeled to control aphids, whiteflies, leaf beetles, leaf miners, root weevils, mealybugs, thrips, scale and other insects.
