PLANET Offers New Certification for Landscapers

Updated Feb 6, 2013

The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) offers a new certification, the landscape industry certified lawn care technician – national exam.

The 100-question test reflects what professionals should already know as lawn care practitioners. Those earning this designation will be able to underscore their professionalism and commitment to best practices, while promoting their certified status to coworkers and customers.

“The exam is for someone who has been in lawn care and wants to take his or her career to the next level,” says Fred Haskett, landscape industry certified manager, of U.S. Lawns of West St. Louis and St. Charles County. “In that regard, some of the questions are more holistic in nature, testing an individual’s understanding of agronomy, as well as how to calibrate a fertilizer spreader and read a label.” Haskett was one of 12 subject matter experts involved in the exam’s development.

Information on how to register for the exam and details about this new certification can be found on the “Certification” tab at landcarenetwork.org or by calling PLANET at (800) 395-2522 or sending an email to [email protected].
