PLANET awards Gallivan for Capital District project

Updated Feb 19, 2013

The Professional Landscape Network (PLANET) awarded Gallivan Corporation, a family-owned and managed landscape design, construction and management firm based in Troy, New York, a Merit Award. The award was given as part of PLANET’s 2011 Annual Environmental Improvement awards.

The award was based on a residential landscape installation project at a private residence in the Capital District. The project was designed with multiple entertaining areas. One entertainment area features a circular paver patio with a bluestone border and seating walls along with a gas fire pit. Another area consists of the pool and hot tub.

There is a concrete pool deck and bluestone coping with a natural full color bluestone border. A natural limestone waterfall flows into the custom pool and hot tub and is fitted with custom cut radial bluestone cap stones. A custom hemlock pergola and an outdoor kitchen provide another elegant entertainment area. Other features include bluestone stepping stones, plants and lighting. Award classification lists the cost of the project between $100,000 and $500,000.

This was the third nationally recognized landscape award for Gallivan Corporation for PLANETS Annual Environmental Improvement awards. In 2009, they were recipients of a Distinction Award and 2010 recipients of a Merit Award for A Backyard Transformation. A formal award ceremony will take place at GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Kentucky, on Oct. 28.
