PLANET, the national landscape industry trade association, has rebranded its award program.

Originally called the Environmental Improvement Awards, the new name has been changed to the National Landscape Awards of Excellence.

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2013 awards.

For 43 years, the Environmental Improvement Awards have been awarded to those projects that show excellent landscape design, installation, maintenance, erosion control, ecological restoration and interior plantings.

PLANET president, Glenn Jacobsen, says the new branding will be easily understood by clients and will convey the quality of work that was done to achieve the award.

Submission categories will remain the same, but winners will now receive award seals in all categories.

Winners will also receive computerized files that can be displayed on their websites, in client communications, social media and brochures or on trucks.

Awards are given out in the merit, grand and judges categories. Entries are due by Aug. 16.

The awards will be presented in person at the awards reception during the Green Industry Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, on Oct. 25.
