The Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) recently named The Toro Company as a recipient of the 2013 Tekne Award for agricultural technology.
Toro’s PrecisionSense site assessment system received top honors in the agricultural technology category that focuses on improving productivity, efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Used by golf courses and sports fields, the machine utilizes mobile soil sensing and data collection technology to measure the variability of key site attributes – including soil moisture, salinity, compaction and plant performance – to help improve water and resource efficiency, and produce healthy, more uniform turf.
The 14th annual Tekne Awards took place at the Minneapolis Convention Center, and recognized 16 small and large companies.
Award categories spanned the manufacturing, agricultural, electronics and healthcare industries.
The program also honored innovations in education, mobile devices and applications, and safety and security.
