For those delving into the forestry mulching business, Caterpillar has added two new mulching heads to its collection of work tools.
The Standard Flow C Series mulching head HM115 is designed for brush clearing and features a new pushbar that helps maneuver the tree placement when laying them on the ground. Meanwhile, the High Flow C Series mulching head HM418C is one of the widest in the industry at 72 inches.
The HM418C has three new tooth offerings and can mulch material as fine as salt, according to Erin Bennett, commercial analyst for Caterpillar Work Tools.
Caterpillar is also now offering hand and foot controls as an option for its D-Series skid steers, multi-terrain and compact track loaders.
After working with feedback from proficient hand and foot control users, Cat was able to create a customer-driven design that has features such as a single-axis joystick that gives operators the resistance they are accustomed to while providing armrests that prevent fatigue.
“The customer we’re targeting is adamant about having these controls,” said Jeff Brown, senior project engineer.
According to Caterpillar, while the controls will be familiar to the large subset that prefers this type of control, these skid steers are differentiated with a fully sealed and pressurized cab that helps keep debris and noise out.
The new hand and foot control option will be available in these models.
