Founded only five years ago, utility-task-vehicle (UTV) maker Intimidator Group is branching out into the zero-turn mower market with its new brand, Spartan Mowers.
Spartan’s products are designed to solve common problems of zero-turn mowers, according to the company. In addition to steel-belted radial tires, Spartan Mowers are engineered with what Intimidator calls “Smart Ride Technology,” which minimizes any jostling the operator might encounter.
The Spartan has an LCD control panel, warning indicators and a push-to-start instrument panel.
The ZTR mowers use the same type of heavy-duty frames manufactured for Intimidator UTVs.
“We literally built this mower from the ground up,” said Robert Foster, owner and founder of Intimidator Group. “The inspiration for the design of the mower came from the muscle-car era of the ’60s and ’70s.”
The low center of gravity and angled front forks allow for close cuts whether the mower is going straight or turning, according to Spartan. The machines also use “GT Trac” for traction on inclines, the company says. Decks come in at 54, 61 and 72-inch widths.
“The mission behind this mower was to change the turf industry by raising the bar on simplicity and functionality in a top-of-the-line mower,” Foster said.
Spartan currently offers five different mower series – RT Pro, RT HD, SRT PRO, SRT HD and SRT XD. The starting price for a base RT model is $4,995.
Intimidator is based in Batesville, Arkansas, and says all of its products are made in America.
