Design/build webinar series targets better sales process

Jody Shilan’s new webinar series, titled “The Ultimate Landscape Design/Build Sales Process,” kicks off next week with a session on how a design/build landscape contractor can better manage the initial meeting with a prospective client.

An award-winning design/build contractor who now serves as a consultant, Shilan is also executive director of the New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association and editor of the website.

“Having a defined design/build sales process is vital to the success of your business,” Shilan said, “yet most landscape contractors still just show up and wing it.”

While some landscaping companies do have a process in place, he said, they routinely allow customers to manipulate it as they see fit, “which is just as bad.”

The webinars will be held on Feb. 10, Feb. 17 and Feb. 24. Each webinar in the series will be live from 3-4 p.m. EST, although all registrants can watch the webinars online anytime after they are held. The cost is $299 for all three. Members of the site receive a discount, and Shilan said he is also offering a discount to anyone who is a member of their state, provincial or national landscape, nursery or turfgrass association.

  • Feb. 17: Creating the Plan and Proposal
  • Feb. 24: Selling the Installation
