When your customers include the Green Bay Packers, New York Mets and a long list of other, equally recognizable names, you can be forgiven for crowing about it. GT AirInject Inc., a Jacksonville, Florida-based company, produced a big winner among sports turf managers with its Air2G2 Aerifier.

Although GT AirInject counts landscaping companies among its customers today, it hopes to grow that portion of its business with a new portable aerification tool, the Air2HP.

The portable aerifier requires an external air compressor, (135psi/1 hp/3 gal/2.4 scfm @ 90psi minimum) or may be used in conjunction with the Air2G2.

GT AirInject says the Air2HP makes it easy and practical to spot-treat lawns, flower beds and around tree roots.

The portable aerifier eases compaction and increases drainage immediately, the company says, while improving turf health over time.

Aeration creates optimal conditions for deeper root growth and increased microbial activity by forcing gas exchange within the soil, GT AirInject says, and that in turn increases drought tolerance, reduces the need for fertilizer and lowers the risk of harmful fungus and bacteria in the root zone.

“The Air2HP makes the benefits of aerification more portable, accessible and affordable to landscaping companies,” says GT AirInject’s president, Glen Black.

“Based on the success of the Air2G2, we knew that we needed to provide our customers with a portable, handheld tool for aerification. The result is the Air2HP.”

The product that put GT AirInject in so many A-list stadiums, the Air2G2 Aerifier, is a self-propelled machine that uses three probes to inject pressurized air at 7 inches and 12 inches beneath the surface.

The treatment doesn’t disturb the surface of the turf, so the grounds can be used immediately afterward.
