STIHL has introduced the STIHL AR 2000 backpack battery, which is part of the STIHL Lighting Battery System. The company says this product saves time on the job and delivers exceptional run times, which allows users to work up to 11 hours on one charge.

“The STIHL AR 2000 is an integral part of a complete pro package as it powers a full day’s work on the job,” said Brian Manke, product manager at STIHL Inc. “Compatible with all battery products in the STIHL AP Series, users are buying into a family of products that offer quality performance comparable to gasoline-powered products.”

The AR 2000, as a replacement to the STIHL AR 900 backpack battery, includes an ergonomic hip belt and chest strap that the company says evenly distributes the weight of the battery, which reduces operator fatigue. With the backpack battery’s power cable connected directly to the equipment, the weight of the battery is taken off the unit. With the addition of the high performance cable connecting system and the removal of the onboard battery, handheld weight is shifted from the equipment to the hip or back.

The AR 2000 comes equipped with built-in microprocessors and sensors that can monitor temperature and automatically shut down the battery in the event of overheating. The backpack battery also comes equipped with numerous features, such as a rain cover, durable base plate, audible and visual recharge alerts and sturdy housing.

STIHL says that when using this battery, operators can eliminate exhaust emissions, fuel and oil costs, increase productivity and profitability and reduce noise.

The AR 2000 has an MSRP of $849.95, and STIHL says that recharging to 100 percent capacity takes only 130 minutes when using the STIHL AL 500 high-speed charger.
