Photo: Ditch WitchDitch Witch has released a new compact VP30 vibratory plow, which the company says will help operators efficiently install a variety of residential utility products in tight spaces and with minimal surface disruption.
Powered by a 31-hp (23-kw) Briggs and Stratton engine, the VP30 is a compact machine that the company says is the most powerful in its class size. A first to the underground construction industry, Ditch Witch says, the vibratory plow features a variable flow control. The company says this helps utilize power more effectively for productivity, which allows operators to adjust ground drive speed to meet a variety of ground conditions and precisely control the flow to the shaker box.
With a maximum plow depth of 12 inches and a 4.1-psi ground pressure, Ditch Witch says the VP30 reduces restoration work and minimal lawn disruptions.
“The increasing demand for residential fiber installation puts pressure on operators to find an effective and efficient machine that keeps costs to a minimum,” said Chris Thompson, Ditch Witch product manager, Compact Equipment. “The new VP30 vibratory plow is our cost-effective solution for compact, residential installation projects. The machine keeps surface disruption to a minimum while featuring a low-maintenance design to keep operators profitable and productive.”
Using the same pivot design featured on the Ditch Witch CX-Series walk-behind trenchers, the company says the VP30 is maintenance-free, which keeps the machine on the job for increased uptime and utilizing greaseless, sealed bearings.
Other features of the VP30 include hydrostatic skid steer-style steering, easy-touch controls, two adjustable blades – the feed and pull blade – which can be adjusted between 6 and 12 inches. Four other Ditch Witch plow blade options are available. The company says these are heavy-duty and longer-lasting than other competitive blades on the market.
The company says that an optional reel carrier, which allows for easy cable and fiber installation, is also available. A RotoWitch boring attachment is available as well, and Ditch Witch says it results in fewer disturbances, less restoration work and less labor.
