Pets We Dig

Profitable pooches create down-home feel

These two loyal, friendly and energetic canines have left a huge paw print – although sometimes muddy – on Wesley Graves’s business, Graves Lawn and Landscape in Royse City, Texas.

“We’ve had people hire us because of the dogs,” Graves says of one golden-retriever-loving client. “Clients say showing the dogs’ photos on our website (graveslawn.com) gives us a down-home feel and they represent honesty and loyalty.”

Summer, a 9-year-old golden retriever, found her way onto Graves Lawn and Landscape’s website and Facebook pages after Graves shot a photo of her lying on the floor in front of a work truck. His younger dog Sadie, a 14-month-old golden retriever, loves riding in the truck and visiting the office and jobsites. “Almost every morning, Sadie waits at the door to see if she will get to ride in the truck.

“I think our dogs represent our business motto: We are not commercialized, and we truly are a small, family business.”
