Terex launched two compact track loaders this week, saying the “Generation 2” R350T and R350T Forestry machines reflect proven Terex designs and engineering while boosting performance with a higher rated operating capacity and loader breakout forces.
Featuring a 120-horsepower, turbocharged Tier 4 Final Cummins QSF3.8 diesel engine, the new R350T and R350T Forestry boast 360 foot-pounds of peak engine torque, high-flow auxiliary hydraulics, a high-capacity cooling system and a two-speed hydrostatic drive system that allows travel speeds up to 10 miles per hour.
Terex says both models are well suited for site preparation, construction, infrastructure development and demolition applications, including brush cutting and mulching, among other jobs. The radial-lift machines are also good choices for digging and grading applications, the manufacturer says.
The R350T has an operating weight of 11,265 pounds, a tipping load of 10,100 pounds, a 3,535-pound rated operating capacity (at 35-percent tipping load capacity) and a lift height of 125 inches.
The R350T Forestry unit has an operating weight of 12,255 pounds, a tipping load of 10,700 pounds, with a 3,745-pound operating capacity at 35-percent tipping load capacity, and a lift height of 125 inches.
Terex says both machines are engineered with a narrow 6-foot profile, 15-inch ground clearance and low ground pressure – 4.4 psi on the R350T and 4.3 psi on the R350T Forestry model.
The manufacturer says both models feature an advanced undercarriage system suspended from the chassis of the machine by torsion axles. These torsion axles are independent so there are multiple levels of suspension points connecting the chassis to the undercarriage. This design helps create a smooth ride, according to Terex, and takes away much of the vibration and shock associated with running over rocks, curbs and other rough terrain.
Both models use a proprietary all-rubber track, and because Terex uses composite materials rather than a steel skeleton, the company says, its tracks do not corrode or rust.
The Terex R350T and R350T Forestry loaders are also designed with front-mounted quick-connect hydraulic fittings and an electronic connector for control of attachments. Both models also are equipped with pilot-operated joystick controls.
