John Deere is now offering its Michelin X Tweel Turf Airless Radial Tire for the R Series QuikTrak stand-on mowers.

The company has expanded its airless radial tires offering after the popularity of the X Tweel Turf product on its zero-turn mowers. It will be available for purchase on 2018 models of the R Series QuikTrak or as a standalone parts purchase.

“Since first launching in 2014, the Michelin X Tweel Turf Airless Radial Tire has been extremely popular with our customers, providing a solution that helps them to reduce downtime due to tire maintenance,” said Carl Agee, product manager for John Deere. “By expanding this technology to our QuikTrak line, we are now able to offer our stand-on mower customers increased uptime by eliminating flats.”

Aside from removing the issue of flat tires, the airless radial tire also creates a more consistent height of cut, thanks to no fluctuating tire pressure. The tweel tires from Michelin last two to three times longer than a pneumatic tire of equal tread depth.

John Deere has also recently announced the addition of two new commercial zero-turn mowers.

The ZTrak Z945M and ZTrak Z955M feature EFI engines with higher horsepower, allowing for better fuel efficiency and power in different mowing scenarios.

The Z945 has a 27-horsepower, 824cc EFI engine and the Z955M is powered by a 29-horsepower, 824cc EFI engine. Both models are available with a 60-inch side discharge and 60-inch Mulch On Demand (MOD) deck. The Z955M also is available with a 72-inch side discharge.

The higher horsepower makes quick work of tasks such as mowing and mulching, according to John Deere.

“Our customers are hard-working and need equipment that is just as hard working as them,” said Nick Minas, product manager for John Deere Commercial Mowing. “With the latest additions to our ZTrak mower line, we’re satisfying the needs of our professional customers while providing additional value with increased comfort and ease-of-use features.”

Aside from improved fuel economy, the new models have enhanced ride comfort for operators working all day. The mowers come with an optional premium suspension seat for the M and R series machines.

This seat has a thicker bottom cushion, additional padding on the back for better ergonomics and adjustable armrests for an improved overall mowing experience. Users will also find an enlarged and angled fuel filler neck for easier fueling with less of a mess on all new Z900 Series ZTrak mowers.
