As Polaris opens the curtain on 11 new models for 2017, landscapers in search of a work vehicle can definitely find a few robust possibilities. In searching them out, however, you’ll have to cull through an extraordinarily broad offering of vehicles designed for a single purpose: fun.
Along with the release of its new models, Polaris is also boasting this week of “a new, ground-breaking technology that will revolutionize the off-road riding experience.” It calls the technology “Ride Command,” and it’s a new app combined with a weather-resistant, “Ride Command” display. The system connects “people to machines” and “people to people,” Polaris says, creating a more social off-road experience.
Among the models the company hopes will interest landscapers are the new Ranger Crew XP 1000 and the General 1000 EPS. The Ranger XP 1000 has the most powerful engine ever in a utility side-by-side, Polaris says, a four-stroke, twin-cylinder 999 cc.
Meanwhile, the Ranger Crew XP 1000 has the same advantages and carries more people.
The Ranger Crew has a payload capacity of 1,750 pounds and a 2,000-pound towing capacity, according to Polaris.
The Polaris Sportsman models include redesigns and re-launches of its high-powered flagship models, now with 91 horsepower and an all-new body.
Among the models you may run across on a landscaping jobsite is the Sportsman 6×6 Big Boss 570. The Big Boss is powered by a 567 cc engine and boasts a payload of 1,115 pounds and towing capacity of 1,500 pounds.
