Cub Cadet enlisted the help of 100 landscapers from around the country to test its new line of commercial zero-turn mowers, the PRO Z Series, which the manufacturer introduced last week at GIE+EXPO.

Cub Cadet says landscapers working with the company put the machines through thousands of hours of “real-world testing” throughout the spring and summer of this year. Their feedback, the company says, influenced the final product design.

The PRO Z line features the only triple-7-gauge deck on the market, Cub Cadet says. Available in 54, 60 and 72-inch cutting widths, the steel cutting deck has three layers of 7-gauge steel.

“It was extremely important to involve the professionals who operate the equipment day in and day out,” said Dave Mullen, Cub Cadet’s vice president of product marketing. “With their help, Cub Cadet has developed a commercial zero-turn mower that not only meets expectations, but exceeds them.”

The PRO Z line consists of the 100, 500, 700 and 900 Series, and Cub Cadet says all models are designed for everyday professional use.

High-torque Parker transmissions are paired with commercial-grade Kawasaki engines to provide optimal and consistent blade tip speed, the company says.

The mowers come with a steering wheel option, while the four-wheel control increases hillside stability.

Cub Cadet says the PRO Z Series incorporates a number of comfort features, including high-back suspension seats with lumbar support and padded armrests – all standard.

The PRO Z 700 and 900 Series absorb impact on rough terrain with a pivoting front axle dampening system, a vibration isolating foot pan and four seat isolators, the company says, and the PRO Z 900’s exclusive air-ride seat has customizable seat firmness and additional controls for the perfect fit.

PRO Z Series mowers also feature pre-drilled mounting points and fitting locations for an array of attachments, such as the following:

  • Electric PTO drive bagging system
  • Triple bag or clam shell bagging systems
  • Remote deck discharge block-off
  • Deck-mounted striping roller kit
  • Electronic powered deck lift
  • 72-inch snow blade and tire chains
  • 12V outlet and light kit
  • Mulch kit
