To help the people of Dundee, Michigan rebuild and re-beautify their community after a tornado ripped through the small community June 6, Four Star Greenhouse and Proven Winners held a SMILE Campaign and gave away over 2,000 free plants on Sunday, June 13.
The effort was coordinated with Village Financial Director Robin Moon, who said, “You have no idea how much this meant to the residents. They needed a lift, and they got it. It was fabulous; all I hear is good things. Everywhere I turn people are talking about the flowers.”
The Four Star team split into two teams; one group that included owners Tom and Sharon Smith went out to some of the more severely damaged neighborhoods and brought the Proven Winner plants directly to the residents. The other team was based at the Village offices where residents could come and pick out the basket they liked best.
Over 700 hanging baskets and 1500 Grande containers of Butterfly Argyranthemum were given away in about two hours.
The tornado completely destroyed 15 homes and damaged over 1,700 others.
