Updated Feb 19, 2013

The California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) will administer the Landscape Industry Certified Technician test on March 31 at Cuyamaca College in El Cajon, California. More than 100 landscapers from across the state will be tested on skills and techniques needed to maintain and install a visually appealing landscape.

The test site will be set up in 26 stations, including

o   Tree planting and staking
o   Specific plant layout
o   Chainsaw operation and safety protocols
o   Sod installation
o   Irrigation (installation and troubleshooting)

Each applicant takes between seven and nine hands-on tests (in addition to written testing) to become certified.

The test will be held at Cuyamaca College, 900 Rancho San Diego Parkway, El Cajon, California 92019. Visitors should park in Student Lot 4, where they will see signs to follow to the registration table. All visitors to the test site are required to wear long pants and fully closed footwear, such as athletic shoes.
