More than 770 students from 58 colleges will come together a Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, for the 36th annual Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) Student Career Days on March 22-25.
The event includes competitions, networking and career development opportunities for students enrolled in green industry programs at two- and four-year colleges and universities.
Sponsors include Stihl, manufacturer of gas-powered outdoor power equipment, which will organize two competitions: wood construction and small engine repair. The company also co-sponsored other competitions, including annual/perennial identification, business management, landscape maintenance operation, landscape plant installation, paver/hardscape installation, plant problem diagnosis and woody plant identification.
New Holland Construction will sponsor a tractor loader backhoe competition where competitors will be required to perform a pre-operation inspection and operate the loader to complete three timed tasks.
