With the housing market coming back to life after the recession, the landscaping market will begin to see some growth as well.

To be more specific, the landscaping products market is expected to grow 6.9 percent per year through 2017 to $6.5 billion, according to a report from ReportsnReports.com.

The landscaping products market consists of hardscaping products, outdoor structures and other materials used in an outdoor space.

With outdoor living spaces becoming more popular and the housing market going up, hardscaping products are projected to be the fastest growing segment through 2017.

The decorative products segment, which includes water features, lighting, pottery and statuary, was the largest in 2012.

Environmentally friendly landscaping products will also continue to see growth as sustainability remains popular in the industry.

Permeable pavers for hardscaping are rapidly becoming more popular over ready mix concrete, which reduces water runoff.

Synthetic turf, potted plants and hardscaping will also continue to grow as water restrictions become tighter in certain parts of the country.

Because of reduced water usage, smaller water features and pondless types will also see growth.

Throughout 2012, the residential market was the largest for the landscaping products market and gains through 2017 will be driven by a strong rebound in housing completions.
